Seeking inspiration for an upcoming film project, Zoja journeys to her family home in Southern Slovakia, her unexpected arrival causing a clash between generations where family secrets are exposed and awkward confrontations abound under the influence of alcohol, mood stabilizers and God.
Gorgeously shot, Liquid Bread imbues a timeless beauty with a fresh and youthful feel. Helmed by Slovak newcomer Alica Bednáriková, Liquid Bread’s singular clarity of vision saw it selected for La Cinef at the 75th Festival de Cannes and Future Frames: Generation NEXT at the 56th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
Liquid Bread will screen with Viera Cákanyová Notes from Eremocene.
